KEIO UNIVERSITY MITA
NEW SOUTH BUILDING
2007 (Proposal)
Tokyo, Japan
To celebrate its 150 years of history, Keio University held a competition for a new master plan for the main gate of the University. This proposal consists of an entrance flanked by two hills which support the development of the university. The first hill, entitled “The Hill of History” features a public speaking hall “Mita Enzetsu-kan” as well as a new student activity space, celebrates Keio’s past. The second hill, “The Hill of the Future” supports the 150 Year Anniversary Hall. The two hills are connected by an elevated linear building, “The New South Building” which both expresses the future prosperity of Keio University and forms a gate over the entrance.
