Rizhao is located next to the Eastern Ocean and has rich views of the nature. In China, it is often told that a mountain is a dragon’s bone, and water is a
dragon’s blood. This project uses spiral elements that symbolize the power of dragon elevating into the sky, an abstraction of the energy that drives the entire city.
The overall form of the architecture is defi ned by the rhythm of bay windows. While the 3D stucco paint and metal strengthen the visual view of its spiral movement, the columns emphasize its verticality. The blinking façade transforms the movement of the dragon rising up into the sky in an abstract way.
