The project building sits on presently uncommon location – in the close vicinity to Omote-sando station – and was built with high quality materials and details like many other buildings of the similar age. But those buildings, despite superior locations, are often devaluated as real estate due to old design and infrastructure, and the project building was no exception.
The goal of this project was to renew the image of the 22-year-old building and enhance its value through renovation.
For the brand new identity of the building, of quality appropriate for a building that stands in one of the most sophisticated areas in Tokyo, a perfectly curved lattice screen has been designed and developed in collaboration with Asao Tokolo, an artist who pursues the infinite possibility
of patterns through his works. The screen integrated the multiple design elements the original building had, and became an iconic façade that represents the quality of life the building offers.
